Crews are working to contain 30-acre fire in Custer State Park

CUSTER STATE PARK, S.D. (KEVN TV) – Firefighters are working a 30-acre blaze about a half mile north of Center Lake in Custer State Park.

The Playhouse Fire was spotted about midnight.

Local and South Dakota Wildland Fire resources worked overnight along with a privately-owned dozer operator. Additional resources are responding Friday morning, including Forest Service, Department of Corrections hand crews; and both the state Black Hat and Bear Mountain hand crews.

Good progress is being made on containment, according to Great Plains Fire Information.

The cause is under investigation.
