Businesses selling fireworks at low prices after Independence Day

It's the day after Independence Day, and several businesses are selling fireworks at major discounts.

On Wednesday the Our Town Fireworks tent in Rapid Valley was selling the last of their merchandise as Buy 1 Get 1 Free.

Wednesday is the last day they can legally sell fireworks.

In areas where you can legally shoot fireworks in South Dakota, that period ends on Sunday.

The next time you can legally discharge fireworks in the state is December 28th through January 1st.

Our Town Fireworks Operator Tiffany Carey says, "Fireworks usually have a five-year shelf life so a lot of people can come in and take advantage of the promotions and sales today and then they can use them over the New Year's Eve. A lot of people use them the next year. As long as you keep them in a dry area and they don't get damp, then they'll be totally fine."

According to a study from the American Pyrotechnics Association, Americans spent about $750 million on fireworks in 2015.
