KADOKA, S.D. (KEVN) - A motel in Kadoka was extensively damaged in a fire early Tuesday morning.

The El Centro Motel fire on South Highway 248 went to three alarms before being brought under control. The second alarm, according to a release from Pennington County Fire, was raised as soon as the first Kadoka firefighters arrived on scene.

While there was extensive damage to two wings of the motel, firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading into the largest wing of the complex.

Several factors hampered firefighting efforts: several propane tanks and wind gusts upwards of 40 mph.

There were no injuries.

The fire is currently under investigation by the South Dakota Fire Marshall's office, the Kadoka Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
