BHSU Teachers Fair attracts nearly 50 school districts

Nearly 50 school districts will be on campus at Black Hills State University Wednesday, Feb. 28 for the annual Teachers Fair. The placement rate of BHSU teacher-education graduates employed in education fields is over 90 percent.

SPEARFISH, S.D. (KEVN) - Education students at Black Hills State University will meet with future employers at a Teachers Fair on Feb. 28. Close to 50 school districts will be represented at the event with more expected to sign up in the coming days.

According to Melissa Woodall, retention and recruitment specialist at BHSU, in addition to local school districts, the fair has attracted national and international attention with employers from Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Alaska, Arizona, California, Kansas and Kuwait in attendance.

“Employers will be conducting interviews throughout the day,” said Woodall. “In years past, many students have ended the fair with a job in place.”

A one hour Q&A session on preparing for a first job interview will be held at 8:30 a.m. in the Club Buzz in the BHSU Student Union. The Teacher Fair will be held in the Jacket Legacy Room in the BHSU Student Union from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

The event is open to the public.
