66-year-old man sentenced after pleading guilty to attempted enticement of a minor

Last year a Summerset man pleaded guilty to attempted enticement of a minor using the internet, and he received his sentence in federal court on Monday.

Judge Jeffrey Viken sentenced 66-year-old Nathan William Juhala to 10 years behind bars plus five years of supervised release.

According to the factual basis statement signed by Juhala... he first came to the attention of prosecutors back in February of last year with a Craigslist ad he placed.

An undercover investigator responded ... posing as a 15-year old girl.

That statement said Juhala agreed to meet who he believed was that underage girl for sex in the parking lot of a Rapid City hotel, and that's where he was arrested.

Juhala could have received up to life in prison for this charge, but Judge Viken said due to his lack of criminal history and multiple medical conditions, he gave him the minimum sentence of 10 years.

During his time in custody, Juhala must undergo sex offender treatment.
