Organizers say the overall unemployment rate in South Dakota is 2.9 percent, but that goes up to 3.9 percent for veterans.
Translating their skills from military life into the civilian world can be a challenge, but they say that military background has some big advantages too.
Maj. Lona Christensen says, "Our employees are drug-free. They're dependable. They're on time. They have accelerated learning curve. They triumph in adversity. They bring so many skills to the table that employers look for and value in their employees."
There were 83 employers and service providers on hand Wednesday.
There are currently more than 66,000 veterans living here in South Dakota.
