CUSTER STATE PARK (KEVN) - Some of Custer State Park’s burros might not have survived the Legion Lake Fire when it exploded Tuesday night.

The park staff has been out locating wildlife but was only able to account for five of the nine burros. The burros they found are being evaluated by veterinarians for an overall health check.

The majority of the park’s bison herd has been discovered. The park staff is gathering them up and assessing them.

The majority of the pronghorn, elk and deer herds have also been located and appear to be doing well, a park Facebook post stated.
