3-day Festival of Trees celebrated in Lead

LEAD, S.D. (KEVN) - The Historic Homestake Opera House in Lead will begin its Christmas season with its Festival of Trees Vintage Holiday Celebration.

The three-day event will take place Nov. 30 through Dec. 2 at the opera house.

Visitors will have an opportunity to tour the building which has been decked out in Christmas trees, wreaths and other decorations. Santa will make appearances at the celebration.

Hot cocoa, apple cider and cookies will be available and live music will be provided by the United Methodist Church Hymndingers bell choir, the Bell Fourche Center of the Nation Brass Quintet and Ruth Groeneveld.

Hours for the festival are 5-7 p.m. Thursday and 1-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Admission is a donation of pet food, non-perishable food items or monetary donations. All donations will go to the Twin City Animal Shelter of Lead and Deadwood, the Lord’s Cupboard Food Pantry in Lead and the Historic Homestake Opera House to continue restoration projects, theatre operations and programs.
