In federal court in Rapid City Friday morning, 27-year old Marshall Brown pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography in a plea agreement with the United States.
According to the factual basis statement,signed by Brown, during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in August of 2016, an investigator was posing as a 15 year old girl using an app called, "whisper."
"Whisper" is an app that allows users to send messages anonymously.
The factual basis statement signed by Brown says he started a conversation with the undercover officer posing as a 15-year old girl asking if she was interested in older guys.
He proceeds to ask for pictures and sexual acts.
Brown also sent a naked picture of himself to the officer posing as the young girl.
When officials searched his home, they found images of a 15-year old boy that he had previously met up with for sexual acts.
At the time of sentencing both the government and the defense will request Brown spend eight years behind bars.
He faces a mandatory minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years.
