Jon Wilson comes to the Black Hills from Rensselaer, Indiana, a small town located in between Indianapolis and Chicago.
When I was younger, I would always be excited about storms, snow, or any exciting weather that was moving in. I had an interest in weather from an early age, and that led me to pursue my dream of becoming a meteorologist. I graduated from Purdue University in December of 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
While in college, I interned at WGN in Chicago where I was able to work alongside a childhood idol of mine, Tom Skilling in the WGN Weather Center. I was also a volunteer for a National Weather Service Office near Chicago and spent a semester at WLFI in West Lafayette, Indiana learning the ropes of broadcast meteorology.
Outside of work, I am a huge sports enthusiast. I am a big Indianapolis Colts fan, NASCAR, and Purdue Boilermakers supporter. I also enjoy hiking in the beautiful Black Hills.
