Over to South Dakota Mines we go where they welcomed Jamestown College to start the season.

3rd quarter 14-7 Jimmies when Brad Lint loses the handle on the snap and Jake Coleman is Johnny on the Spot. He recovers the fumble and the Hardrockers are going the other way. Mines would squander the good field position by going three and out. Then kicker Andy Smith hooks the field goal attempt left and the Hardrockers are still down by a touchdown. Lint had to leave the game briefly with an injury. His replacement is Tyler Notch and he goes for the home run ball on his first pass. But safety Patrick Shaw is there for the big INT. Mines started a true freshman at quarterback today. His name is Mitchell Syverson, he struggled for most of the day until he hooks up with Marshall Davis here for a 32 yard pick up. That lead to this Andy Smith field goal which cut the lead to 14-10.It would take overtime to decide this game but Mines drops their home opener 23-20.
