Airport adds to art collection

Rapid City Regional Airport installed the third of five new pieces of art Tuesday all part of the facility's expansion and remodel project.  "Black Hills Pasque" is a pyramid-shaped mosaic sculpted by artist Chon Love.Airport executive director Cameron Humphres says the sculpture is designed to be an eye-catching complement to the beauty of the area.

Humphres says, "The glass itself that is hand cut is just brilliant in its color, and it will be sitting out on our green deck. This is a deck that's just off our restaurant that will give patrons of the airport the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy lunch while they're waiting to either get on a flight or waiting for arriving passengers. And it will bring a great deal of color to that deck, and I think that it will be a real centerpiece to that area."  Humphres says his desire for all the new artwork at the airport is an effort to give arriving visitors a sense of what beauty to expect in the Black Hills.
