FARGO, N.D. (AP) _ A Cass County man is facing several felony
charges after he was arrested for a string of thefts in North
Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota.
Forty-eight-year-old Paul Baumler of Leonard, N.D. is being held
in the Cass County Jail.
Authorities say Baumler was buying various items like vehicles
and a horse trailer with bad checks and then selling the items on
Craigslist and other websites to turn a profit.
In one instance, West Fargo Police Detective Derek Cruff tells
KFGO that Baumler opened a bank account in
West Fargo with a $100 deposit. He then proceeded to allegedly
write more than $82,000 in checks with the account.
Baumler is also facing charges in counties in Minnesota and
South Dakota.
