Local students pack food for hungry children

Some Rapid City students are looking to send a little love from the central plains all the way to Central America. Friday students gathered at Saint Elizabeth Seton School, to pack food to send to hungry children in Honduras.

Griffin Schroeder says, "Well we do this because the children in Honduras, who we're sending this to, live on less than $2 a day, so they don't have enough money to get their own food, they don't have water.

Schroeder says, "It's a bare bones meal, basically of rice and soy. It's got minerals and vitamins in it as well and protein. It's basically what the kids need at a low cost."

Schroeder says, "There's packers, there's sealers, there's announcers, there's people who do everything."

Schroeder says, "The students bring in the money, the students pack the food, the students bring the food to the kids, the students do everything."

"'How many are you looking to pack today?' 'I don't know the exact number, but we're looking to fill two semi trucks of food.' 'That's a lot of food.' 'Yeah, it's a lot of food.'"
