Christmas Nights of Lights nearing end at Storybook Island
Friday, 30 December 2011 15:30
As December comes to an end so does Storybook Island's Christmas Nights of Light in Rapid City.  Executive director Connie LeZotte says the great weather we've had this year has made for a wonderful winter at Storybook Island with more people coming to see the lights than ever before.

More than 22,000 people have visited the park so far this holiday season, compared to about 16-thousand total at the end of last year.  LeZotte says they also added 35,000 more lights this year.  Connie LeZotte says, "It's beautiful. It's a nice walk and it's an opportunity for families to just be families. There's wonderful Christmas music, there's activities for the kids like riding the train and visiting Santa when he's here. The reindeer are also here and are a big hit, but it's just a warm, cuddly, fuzzy kind of time for families to be together."  Christmas Nights of Light is Storybook Island's largest fundraiser which helps to keep the park free of admission and open everyday of the summer.  Saturday is the last evening to view the park's lights.
