Crash near Sturgis snarls traffic
Friday, 30 September 2011 12:05

A pickup truck and the camper it was towing ended up in a mangled mess on Interstate 90 near Sturgis Friday afternoon. The South Dakota Highway Patrol tells KBHB Radio in Sturgis that the Ford pickup was pulling a fifth-wheel camper and heading eastbound on I-90 when the driver lost control. The truck went upside down in the ditch and the camper came to rest on top of it.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Friday near mile marker 29.

No word yet on how many people were in the truck, but at least one person was taken from the scene on a LifeFlight helicopter.  Crews were still cleaning up the crash around 5 p.m. and westbound traffic was still backed up about a mile.
