Rapid City's bike path is lighting the way for safer travel.  Tuesday afternoon, the Rapid City Police Department, along with city officials and the Rush Foundation unveiled the finalized Light the Night Project.

With the help of Black Hills Power, more than 50 solar lights have been installed along the city bike path from Roosevelt Park to Memorial Park.Police Chief Steve Allender says, "We're literally trying to attract people out here to use this section of bike path as a way to commute after the sun goes down because we need those eyes and ears. We need to make it uncomfortable for those who'd make trouble down there."  Allender says they've been working for the past several months to get the lights up and running and he says this is a great step in encouraging more use of the bike path.
