Gibson Sentenced for Second Degree Rape PDF print email

After pleading guilty to second degree rape, 42-year-old Mark Gibson has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.  Authorities say Gibson was arrested after an incident in February when he admitted to forcing sex with his then-girlfriend after he was recently released from jail.

In court Tuesday, Gibson said he was sorry and understood he had made a very poor choice, which is why he asked for a probationary sentence.  Judge Janine Kern said Gibson has a very serious criminal history, which includes charges for violent crimes.  She sentenced Gibson to 20 years in the state penitentiary and ordered him to undergo sex offender treatment.
