Crazy Horse Memorial celebrates Korczak Day


Updated: 05/03/2015 - Sunday was a day of remembrance. Every May 3rd marks the anniversary of the world–famous sculptor moving to the Black Hills to start what would become Crazy Horse Memorial. In 1983, the South Dakota Legislature honored Korczak Zoilkowski for his world–known Crazy Horse Mountain Carving, with a proclamation, officially calling attention to Korczak's dedication to honor the Native Americans.

Ladies hammer away for 'National Women Build Week'

Updated: 05/02/2015 - From now until May 10th, thousands of volunteers are expected to partner with Habitat for Humanity affiliates from across the country. It's all in honor of 'National Women Build Week.' Ladies from all different walks of like will choose to volunteer their time, bringing affordable housing into their communities.

New tree rooted in Willow Park in celebration of National Arbor Day

Updated: 05/02/2015 - A new elm tree was taking root Saturday afternoon at Willow Park in Rapid City, in celebration of National Arbor Day. For 35 years, Rapid City has been named a 'Tree City USA.' It's a national program that provides the framework for community forestry management for cities and towns across America. In order to achieve 'Tree City USA' status, Rapid City had to meet the standards of urban forestry management, including maintaining a tree board, having a community tree ordinance and spending at least $2 dollars per capita on urban forestry and of course, celebrating National Arbor Day.
