Allender says NTSB recommendation is well-intentioned
The chief of the Rapid City Police Department shared his thoughts Friday on a new recommendation from the National Transportation Safety Board to lower the legal blood alcohol limit. The NTSB is recommending that the legal blood alcohol limit be lowered from .08 to .05.

An ongoing drug investigation by the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team led to several arrests on Thursday. Rapid City Police made a traffic stop on Eglin Street at about 2:30 p.m. after receiving a tip about drug activity.

Fire at landfill being monitored around the clock PDF print email

The Rapid City Solid Waste Division and Rapid City Fire Department say they have decided to let a fire at the landfill burn itself out. The fire, which has been burning since shortly after midnight on Thursday, continues to smolder in the un-ground yard waste at the landfill, creating smoke that continues to drift over the area.
