Four graduate from Northern Hills Drug Court
According to the Chief Justice of the South Dakota Supreme Court, 50 percent of people in the state penitentiary are there for alcohol and drug-related violations, but one program is helping to lower that incarceration rate. Monday, four people graduated Drug Court, a rigorous program that takes two to three years to complete.

Junior Golf Circuit comes to town
Here in the Black Hills, when the weather cooperates, golf is at the forefront of many people's minds during the summer months. Our local high school athletes are no exception and Monday the junior golf circuit came to town.

It was an unusual scene Tuesday afternoon on I-90, when a cement truck crashed into an overpass.  South Dakota Highway Patrol troopers say the cement truck was eastbound near mile marker 71, when a back tire blew, causing the load to shift and the driver to lose control.

Names released in Monday's officer-involved shooting near New Underwood PDF print email

The South Dakota Attorney General's Office has identified the man shot by officers Monday east of New Underwood as 43-year old Travis Will Ross. Ross was admitted to the hospital with gunshot wounds, but he is not listed in the hospital directory and his current condition is unknown, but we are told he is alive.

Golden Coyote comes to a close PDF print email

More than 3,500 soldiers from National Guard units across the country and around the world will soon be heading home as the 29th annual Golden Coyote Training exercises came to a close Tuesday. This year's Golden Coyote training welcomed soldiers from 22 states and five foreign nations and was described as "very successful" from those who experienced it.

In order to keep the parks along Skyline Drive in pristine condition, the Rapid City Parks Department was out Tuesday morning doing some cleanup. The Parks Department received a call about excessive garbage piling up in areas along Skyline Drive.

Mt. Rushmore mascots make another stop in Denver PDF print email

Some familiar faces made their way to the big city this weekend. Rapid City's Mount Rushmore mascots headed to Denver, Colorado to promote the Black Hills. The 'big heads' visited the Denver Zoo and were special guests at a Colorado Rockies game.
