Cute dogs finding new homes
About a month ago, we noticed several small dogs running around our studio and into traffic on Skyline Drive.   The dogs were thought to be feral, but there's a happy ending to the story.   Over a week's time, Animal Control worked to catch the nine dogs that were too scared to let humans approach them.

Wildfire under control near Sheridan Lake PDF print email

Crews are mopping up after a small fire near Sheridan Lake.   About a quarter of an acre was burned after a tree fell on a power line.   Although a few homes are set up in that area,  crews on scene say no structures are threatened at this time.

Rollover wrecks two vehicles PDF print email

It was a scary accident on Sheridan Lake Road Thusday morning, but thankfully it ended with only minor injuries.   Police say this black Ford pickup was heading down the hill near Arrow Street when it hit a Jeep Laredo and veered into the oncoming lane and collided with a Toyota Rav-4 coming the other way.

Van driver cited in fatal crash PDF print email

     Citations have been issued to the driver of a Disabled American Veterans van after a fatal rollover accident earlier this month. The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the May 7th crash took the life of 46-year-old Kristian Sateren of Sturgis, and seriously injured five other van passengers.

     A piece of grim history is now on display at the Lead/Deadwood Hospital. People who are in their 60's and 70's can remember a time when little kids, and their parents, lived in fear of polio. And many times, their only hope for survival was a machine called an iron lung.
