White Magpie pleads not guilty

A man shot by Rapid City Police near the Rapid City Public Library last month was in court Monday, potentially facing more than 50 years in prison.  Elijah White Magpie was shot on February 21st after police say he tried to aggressively attack them with a butcher knife.   Monday White Magpie was in court in a wheelchair and pleaded not guilty to attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault on a public officer.  If convicted on those charges and two destruction of property charges, White Magpie could get up to 51 years and 30 days in prison.  The attempted murder charge is paired with another alternative count of aggravated assault.  He's due back in court on April 8th.
