Firefighters responded to a house fire on Shad Street in Rapid Valley Thursday morning.  Firefighters say the lone occupant of the home, the wife of a deployed Air Force airman, escaped from the house unharmed.   Three cats died in the fire.  Firefighters believe the fire started on the rear deck of the home.  The fire was so intense it melted the siding on the house behind it.
