The House narrowly rejected the bill last week, but Monday, representatives voted 43-23 to pass the measure, which now goes back to the Senate for consideration. Meanwhile, the Senate refused to reconsider a measure that would have given South Dakota the option to suspend the licenses of drivers who repeatedly speed. But the Senate did pass a House-amended version of a bill that would create a state athletic commission to regulate boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts. That bill now awaits Governor Dennis Daugaard's signature. Daugaard previously opposed the bill, but has since agreed to support it on the condition his office appoints the commission's five members.
