A murder mystery that's also a comedy. It sounds off-beat, and it is. The Gold Camp Players in Lead are kicking off their 2013 theater season with a production of "The Real Inspector Hound" which is about "existential angst" at Muldoon Manor, according to the show's playbill.

It's described as a play within a play in which Inspector Hound comes to the rescue. David Scherer says, "And it is a murder mystery farce. It's over the top. It's one of those fun productions where the actors just get to have a ball. You cannot over-act a play like this."

The Gold Camp Players are Lead's community theatre. The production, with a cast of eight players, was presented at the Historic Homestake Opera House which is celebrating its 100th anniversary next year.
