Sunday, the Washington Nationals Racing Presidents made an appearance at Main Street Square in downtown Rapid City. The four presidents on Mount Rushmore are all represented among the mascots with the addition of a mascot representing President William Howard Taft, an enthusiastic baseball fan and the first President to throw out a baseball on opening day. Tom Davis says, "Yeah, you know, we just added Bill. We added him a few weeks ago and we were just trying to have a little more fun with it: keep the race fresh for us. And we're looking to have a great time with him." Monday, the Racing Presidents head to Custer State Park to check out the buffalo, and to Mount Rushmore to check their likenesses on the mountain. -Al Van Zee |
