Journey program educates kids about responsible money habits print

How does money work? Why do we need it? And how do we use it? Those were all questions addressed at the Journey Museum in Rapid City where family fun day was held for local kids. The theme for this week's Family Fun Day was "Money, Money, Money."

Visitors to the Journey Museum learned that money in not absolutely necessary and we can trade our own things for the other things we need, but money makes getting those things a whole lot easier.

Kristi Thielen says, "It's our Family Fun Day for February. We thought it was a nice change of pace to have kids learn about the U.S. Mint, and about how currency is created. And then we were visited by a customer service representative from Security First Bank."

Family Fun Day is a monthly educational program for kids at the Journey Museum.
