Local couples had the chance to sweat it out together Sunday afternoon in honor of Valentine's Day, for the Black Hills Runner's Club annual 5K Couple's Run. About 100 runners turned out for Sunday's run, the route taking them around the Roosevelt Park pond, down the bike path and around Memorial Park.

The Black Hills Runners Club says today's run is a continuation of the longest running race in club history, starting way back in 1980.

Race director Gary Miller says, "I can find in the first year's minutes they were talking about putting on the Valentine's Couple's Run and the other race they were talking about was the Banana Belt, and we no longer run the Banana Belt run, so this one's still going and as far as I know, it's run consecutively every year except one that we missed. So, it's been going for a long time."

And after the race, the top dozen finishers also went home, with a box of valentines candy.
