The use and sale of synthetic drugs has been somewhat of a hot button issue lately. Jackley says the drugs can be difficult to detect and regulate because of the numerous combinations of chemicals in the different hallucinogens. A recent synthetic drug case in North Dakota resulted in the overdose deaths of two teens. Meanwhile, health officials in 16 states, including Wyoming, have seen cases of synthetic marijuana being linked to kidney damage. Under South Dakota law, it is illegal to possess or sell synthetic drugs. -Zach Nugent |
