The first thing you might think of when you think of a quick-draw contest might be a shootout with guns.  But there was no noise and no smell of smoke out at the Civic Center Theatre Saturday. It was part of the Black Hills Stock Show's Artist Quick Draw event.During the event, several artists are given a limited amount of time to create a drawing, painting or sculpture. After the artwork is done, the work of art is auctioned off to the public.

Riley Waltman says, "And we have nine artists and they're going to either paint a picture or do a sculpture in an hour. And at the end of that hour people have an opportunity to vote on who their favorite artist is. We will be selling these pieces of arwork."

Some of the pieces of artwork in years past have brought several thousand dollars.
