Sen. John Thune says he's proud of the Save the VA group and the presentation they made to U.S. Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki this week. On Monday a meeting was set up in Washington, D.C. with Secretary Shinseki, South Dakota's congressional delegation, Gov. Dennis Daugaard and Save the VA.

Thune says the group made strong arguments on why the VA facility in Hot Springs should remain open. The senator says now it's just a waiting game.

Thune says, "There wasn't any specific time table given, except that the Secretary did say that he was ready to make a decision, that this had been a fairly lengthy process."

Thune says he would also like to see the VA provide a more updated cost analysis on the Hot Springs facility. He says he feels the one that has been provided is out-of-date.
