The South Dakota House has approved a bill that would allow school districts to arm teachers and other personnel with guns to protect against attacks.

Representatives voted 42-27 Tuesday to send the measure to the Senate.

Also proposed federal restrictions on the assault weapons and high-capacity magazines would be unenforceable in Wyoming under a bill that has cleared its first state legislative committee hearing. The House Judiciary Committee voted 8-to-1 today to advance the bill, which would impose felony penalties on federal officials who attempted to enforce federal weapons bans. The bill now goes to the full House for consideration.

The same committee earlier endorsed a separate bill that would allow Wyoming citizens who hold concealed carry permits to carry guns on public school and college campuses.
