And a great many of them could be seen today at an Old West Antique Auction at the Civic Center. Saturday's auction was held in conjunction with the Stock Show to increase interest in the event. And who would be more likely to bid up the price of an old saddle or a pair of spurs than a crowd of hundreds of cowboys from all over the upper Great Plains.

     Ken Kirkeby says, "Most of the buyers, seems like, they are agricultural people; cattle people. That's what it has been in the past."The items that went on the auction block today included saddles, bridles, clothing, jewelry, furniture, and hundreds of other Old West items.
