The Forest Service says fire crews on the Northern Hills Ranger District will be burning slash piles along Snowmobile Trail 7-C. That trail stretches from an area just south of Deadwood down to Custer Peak. Crews say a lack of snow along the trail has already diminished riding conditions and they're encouraging snowmobilers to find alternative riding locations while the burns are completed. The Forest Service is also advising smoldering material may continue to burn for several days after this weekend's operations.
