A number of South Dakota leaders are set to make their case for saving the Hot Springs VA at a special meeting in our nation's capital. Senator John Thune, Senator Tim Johnson, Representative Kristi Noem and Governor Dennis Daugaard will meet face-to-face with Veterans Administration Secretary Eric Shinseki to discuss the future of VA facilities in the Southern Hills. The Veterans Administration has proposed significantly downsizing their presence at the Hot Springs facility. Representatives from the Save the VA group will also meet with the VA Secretary to offer their own proposal to address the group's concerns of downsizing. The meeting is scheduled for next Monday afternoon in Washington, D.C. Brendyn Medina |
