Feeding South Dakota has unveiled its latest tool in fighting hunger across the Mt. Rushmore State. The statewide network of food pantries says a new mobile food truck will allow them to reach South Dakota's more rural communities.

The truck, called the Mobile Food Pantry, has planned distributions in 12 communities, including Martin, St. Francis, and Wanblee.

Feeding South Dakota Development Associate Lauren Forsch says, "Really what this mobile food pantry truck is targeting is being able to get the fresh produce, the healthy nutritious baked good, the fresh meats, that sort of thing that we wouldn't have been able to send out there before."

Feeding South Dakota says the new truck should be able to distribute 650,000 pounds of food to rural communities each year.
