Search and Rescue practices GPS tracking

Pennington County Search and Rescue personnel took part in more training as part of their annual winter camp out.

Each year, the Pennington County Search and Rescue organization takes it's cold weather equipment out for testing. That equipment includes several tracked vehicles, ATVs, UTVs, Snowcats, Mattracks, and snowmobiles. But they also test their cold weather skills, which include GPS tracking in cold weather and snow. Gale Schmidt says, "We also had a scenario where we had an individual that was lost and injured. And we had to drive to that individual, get a set of GPS coordinates, get to that individual, then track that individual." The Pennington County Search and Rescue winter camp out concludes Monday.
