Daugaard discusses gun laws
Friday, 18 January 2013 11:51

Gov. Dennis Daugaard says he has not yet reviewed a new bill just introduced in the South Dakota Legislature that would enable school districts to introduce armed security in South Dakota schools. In a conference call with reporters, Daugaard said he wants more consultation with law enforcement officials in South Dakota cities and towns about school security. He said he took part in a teleconference with county sheriffs on the subject on Friday. On the subject of federal gun control, Daugaard said he doesn't believe Congress will pass increased gun legislation given the current makeup of the House of Representatives and the feelings of some Democrats in the Senate.
