While Rapid City Police Captain Dan Rud says he would love to see those numbers drop, he says it's a big decrease from the nearly 1,500 arrests they had as recently as 2006. Rud says they're making a concerted effort to keep those drunk drivers off the roads.

Capt. Dan Rud says, "We have two officers that are dedicated to DUI enforcement. They work those prime hours when most drinking drivers are out and about. But all of our officers, all of our patrol officers, are trained to detect and arrest drinking drivers." P

olice say they've made 38 DUI arrests so far this year.
