The Sioux Indian Museum in Rapid City has a new curator who hopes to continue the tradition of showcasing contemporary Native American artists. Conor McMahon has a great deal of experience from museums in both Kentucky and New Mexico where he worked with other Native American collections. McMahon says the Black Hills and the Sioux Indian Museum are what brought him to South Dakota, and he is eager to start working.

McMahon says, "I was just attracted by the Sioux Indian Museum itself and its relationship to the Journey as well. I was also very interested in the area and all it has to offer so it seemed like a great place to relocate myself and my family."

McMahon has worked with numerous Native American tribes like the Pueblo, Navajo and Hopi. He says the different tribes' artists have their own unique strengths and virtues.
