The United Way of the Black Hills has exceeded its fundraising goal for 2012-2013, even if it had to extend the deadline to do it. The extended deadline was at five o'clock Friday afternoon. And Friday night, the United Way of the Black Hills announced that the overall goal of $2,295,000 had been exceeded by more than $27,000 when the clock struck five.

At half past three Friday afternoon, the Rapid City United Way and the Northern Hills United Way were about $10,000 short. But United Way Director Renee Parker says volunteer fundraising personnel worked tirelessly up to the last minute to reach the goal.
