MEALS Program gear up for downtown ice festival

Western South Dakota Senior Services, otherwise known as 'Meals on Wheels,' says one in seven seniors goes hungry each day in the United States.

That's why they're partnering with Main Street Square and nationally known ice sculptor Randy Finch to help 'Carve out Senior Hunger' with a series of special events Saturday afternoon and evening in downtown Rapid City.

Finch and his Michigan based ice sculpting crew will host ice carving demonstrations throughout the day, and a chili cook off will help raise funds for the MEALS program.

The ice festival kicks off Saturday morning at Main Street Square at 10 and will continue until 6 o'clock tomorrow evening.

A steak dinner at the downtown VFW will also help raise funds to round out the day's events from 6 to 8.
