Jackson Boulevard reconstruction resumes
Friday, 04 January 2013 11:22
Road construction has resumed along Jackson Boulevard in Rapid City, and crews say Friday's warm weather is definitely helping them expedite the process.

Construction crews will have one lane of westbound traffic closed through March 4th, at which point they will close down the entire westbound lane, diverting traffic head-to-head in the eastbound lane.

Crews say the closures may cause some headaches for local drivers, but it's work that needs to be done.

Project coordinator Sean Hogard says, "The water main and sewer I know are forty-plus years old and just the pavement, and driving down Jackson Boulevard, there are all the patches and stuff, and it's failing pretty bad."

Hogard says the contract finish date for the $15-million project is slated for June of 2014, but he anticipates the majority of the work will be wrapped up by the end of this year.
