Natural gas rates could rise around Black Hills

Natural gas rates may be on the rise for some customers in the Black Hills.  Montana-Dakota Utilities Company has filed a natural gas rate increase request with the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission.

If approved, MDU says customers in the Black Hills would see an average increase of about three dollars a month meanwhile customers East River would see a decrease of about $1.10 a month.  Those with MDU say the main reason for this request is to recover the cost of their increased investment in natural gas facilities.  The Public Utilities Commission has up to six months to issue a decision on MDU's proposal.
