And a 111-pound male, also approximately 2 years old, was killed in Pennington County. Hunters are required to report a lion kill to the Game, Fish and Parks Department within 24 hours of the animal being harvested. The mountain lion season is scheduled to run through the end of March, but will end sooner if hunters reach the quota of 100 total lions or 70 females. That quota is up from last year. The GF&P says that's because of the degradation of the deer and elk populations by mountain lions. Tessa Thomas/Julie Oberlander |
