Deadlines are approaching quickly to mail out those packages for the holiday season. The Rapid City Post Office says next Monday - their busiest day of the year - is coming up fast.

The supervisor of Customer Service, Sonny Magnuson, says they expect to send out 650 million pieces of mail that day. He says when it comes to sending off those packages in time, keep one thing in mind.

Magnuson says, "It's like everything I say, you know, the longer you wait, the more it will cost you, because the service will have to be upgraded. Along with that the better chance of it being with a whole bunch of other mail because people put if off every year it seems like, so the earlier the better. That's the best advice I can give people."

Magnuson says if you're mailing express to overseas military mail, the deadline is the 17th; cards and letters is the 20th; priority mail is the 21st; and express mail is the 22nd.
