Snowmobilers get ready for trail opening

It's not just the ski slopes that have been getting ready for the winter sports season in the Northern Hills over the past few weeks.  Snowmobile rental services and the roadside pubs and hostels that cater to snowmobilers have been getting ready as well.

At the Recreational Springs snowmobile rental stop, the crews have been doing mechanical checks on their 43 snowmobiles and getting ready for next weekend.  Billy Hein says, "The trails open up on December 15th for everybody to ride on. We've got a bunch of people coming up from Deadwood. We've got all the sleds on a weekend special; free appetizers here at Rec Springs."   According to weather forecasters, the Northern Hills should have anywhere from two to four inches of snow on the ground by the time it stops snowing Tuesday.
