It snowed in the Lead/Deadwood area most of the day on Monday, and road crews worked to keep up with the snowfall as temperatures fell and winds picked up. Monday evening the South Dakota Department of Transportation reported that most of the highways running through the Black Hills were slippery and snow covered. On the plains north of the Hills, the DOT reported scattered slippery spots and scattered snow cover. As always, be sure to check www.safetravelusa.com, or call 511 before heading out on the highway during the winter. Al Van Zee |
