Motorists in the Northern Hills face hazardous road conditions
Monday, 10 December 2012 15:39
When we saw 60s during the first week of December, you may have wondered if winter would ever arrive in the Black Hills region. Well, the weekend brought with it sub-zero temperatures in places and our Monday included some winter warnings for Black Hills motorists.

It snowed in the Lead/Deadwood area most of the day on Monday, and road crews worked to keep up with the snowfall as temperatures fell and winds picked up. Monday evening the South Dakota Department of Transportation reported that most of the highways running through the Black Hills were slippery and snow covered. On the plains north of the Hills, the DOT reported scattered slippery spots and scattered snow cover. As always, be sure to check www.safetravelusa.com, or call 511 before heading out on the highway during the winter.
