A center that focuses on outpatient substance abuse treatment is expanding in Rapid City. Addiction Recovery Centers of the Black Hills has served the Rapid City area since 2006, but was originally founded in Hot Springs in the 1970s. Now, the Rapid City office has grown by moving to a brand new location on North Haines Avenue. CEO Doug Austin says, "It's kind of a dream. When I ran Detox back in the early 80s, 90s and 20s, I always dreamed of building a new center there and we never quite got it done. We had plans drawn up, but never got it done. And this opportunity came along and we drew up the plans and now you're looking at it." The new center at 1520 North Haines, is hosting an open house Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and workers encourage the public to check out the new facility.
