A deployment ceremony was held Wednesday morning for the members of the 1978-th Contingency Contract Team. They're heading off for a nine month tour in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The team will deal with contracts and other logistics in Afghanistan. While it's probably not what you think of when you think of the Army, South Dakota's adjutant general says the work they do is crucial. Maj.Gen. Timothy Reisch says, "If you think about the types of, everything from fuel to road building and all kinds of things, groceries, buildings, all the kind of procurement issues that have go to to support tens of thousands of soldiers and airmen and marines and sailors It's huge." The four will head to Camp Shelby, Mississippi for several weeks of training before deploying overseas. Jack Caudill |
