In anticipation of consuming an excessive number of calories today, many in Rapid City got out for some early exercise.   The Black Hills Running Club organizes the annual Turkey Trot, which departed at nine o'clock from Storybook Island.

About twelve-hundred locals and visitors registered for the 5-K fun run and had their choice of two routes--one for walkers and families; one for those interested in pushing for time.   Walter and Wanda Chowanski from Illinois say, "   This is a great start to build up our resistance to all that food we're going to be eating."Cousins Kelly Graham, Lauren Siefer, and Shannon Muchow say, "We're walking this year.  Yeah. Next year we'll run it."   Nick and John Looby say, "Turkey Trot is kind of our family tradition that we pull the kids out of bed early and that's what we do."   While no winners were crowned, names were drawn for 350 pies from The Colonial House restaurant.   Participants were offered their choice of apple, pumpkin or cherry.
